There are lots of Valentines Day gift for her ideas even better than flowers, which although can always be a sweet gift to receive, it can be more exciting to think just a little more outside the heart-shaped box and get your girlfriend, or prospective girlfriend, something she will be both delighted to get and not expecting to receive. In this 2023 Valentine’s Day post, we will go through some Valentines Day Gift for her ideas to make your girl feel extra special.
When you think of Valentines Day gifts, you might think of flowers, boxes of those fancy chocolates, a stuffed teddy bear, and balloons. These things are thoughtful, but if you are looking to really impress your girlfriend, or you are trying to win a girl over (*exciting*) then using a more personal touch can really do the trick.
Instead of flowers and chocolate, think of what she actually likes to snack on or treat herself with. Then, put together a little basket. Here are just a few ideas that come to mind.
1. A Donut Box
This year I purchased a donut box from my girlfriend’s favorite donut place. In it came pink Valentine’s Day themed frosted donuts, a heart-shaped cookie, a small jar of delicious berry jam, tea bags, and just a few heart chocolates. Even if you don’t have a place preparing these types of boxes, you can totally put together your own and customize it however you want. You can also do this same sort of thing with cookies, biscottis, or even edibles with cannabis in it if she is super into that.
2. A Mochi Assortment
I love mochi and my girlfriend does too. This might not be as common, but if you know she likes mochi or some other more unique snacks, don’t be afraid to show her that you were really thinking about her and specifically what she would enjoy.
3. Wine Date/Beer Date
Buy a pack or a bottle of the wine she likes most. Watch a rom com while you drink!
4. A Handcrafted Card
Brooke and I were not official when Valentines day had rolled around. So, in order to get something nice and sweet, but also casual enough as not to come on too strong, I took time in decorating a card for you at a friend’s printing press art class and wished her a happy Valentines Day in it:)
5. Card with a Link to a Website
Brooke did this one for me one year and it was so meaningful. The link on the card led to a site with a collection of photos and cute things about us. It shows that she put real effort and thoughtfullness into it. AND, it’s really unique and special. It’s something I can keep forever too.
6. Decorate a Mason Jar and put Candied Hearts in it.
This is also another small and sweet way to show a girl you are really into her.
7. Have a chocolate Fonue date (Or cheese if preferred)
Have lots of stuff to dip into the chocolate. Giving her a rose at the end of the date or a small piece of jewelry if you know her well already is nice. (I really like those rainbow roses you can find now.)
8. Gift her a Book
Okay, so this one is also one especially up to your discretion, but if you know of a great lesbian romance book that made you happy, gift her a copy if she enjoys reading. I have never given or received a lesbian romance novel from a Valentine’s date, but I would think it a cool gift. But that’s just cause I love books and lesbians. And it’s hard to find a situation where those two things are combined and it works well!
9. Prepare a Charcuteri Board
Make one with as much stuff as you think she could like. Then, play a board game, watch a rom-com, or whatever you girls are into. It can even be a true crime show if that’s your thing. Valentine’s Day is really about romance and connection with one another, so it should feel pretty natural and fun, whatever you two end up doing.
10. Mix and Match!
Put together a little box or basket of things she likes, but make it the cliché pink theme. You can put goodies, lotions, lipsticks, gum, chips, a card, a little stuffed toy that’s pink, etc. You can also put a pair of movie theater tickets in there to let her know that you’d love to go on another date in the future with her. You could even throw in a cute little heart-shaped lesbian flag since that thing is filled with pink. Stickers are also a fun option. You can go on Amazon or Etsy and find tons of cute stickers. Brooke and I are looking to make stickers in the future, so we will likely offer some fun lesbian ones!
The trick to Valentines Day, in my opinion, is just to show someone you are truly thinking about them and not just going through the motions of yet another commercialized holiday. This is about making someone feel special because out of all the days in the year, this has been the one to be considered the romantic one. And letting someone know that you are choosing them over everyone else in the world to spend this notorious day with is kinda cute and special if you think about it. But, then again, I’m a sucker for romance.
I hope these Valentines Day gift for her ideas helped spur on the creative juices so that you can choose the right gift for your Valentine this year. Let us know what you ended up doing, I’d love to hear some of the great ideas!
